How To Choose The Best Dry Bags For Kayaking?
There are tons of dry bags out there. Each of them claims that they are 100% waterproof. But how do I choose the best dry bags for my kayaking adventure? You should consider different aspects from material, sizes, durability and usage.
Materials
Dry bags can be made in different materials. The most frequent use materials are 500D PVC tarpaulin, nylon and polyester ripstop. The 500D PVC tarpaulin fabric is heavy duty and durable, which can be welded by HF-radio when making the dry bags. So the dry bag with 500D PVC tarpaulin fabric can protect your belongings much better. However, the nylon and polyester ripstop fabrics are lighter and more flexible but less durable. These nylon or polyester dry bags are better to fill in some flexible gears like cloths, sleeping bags.
Sizes
The dry bag sizes start with 2 liter and end up with a 90 or 100 liters. Usually, what size of dry bag you’ll choose depends on your purpose i.e. what you want to use it for. For example if you are looking for a dry bag to keep your phone, wallet and some other small essentials a 2 liter or 5 liter is quite enough. For long journey the 30 liter or 40 liter dry bags are much better.

If you’re planning to a 1-2 nights kayak camping trip a 20 liter dry bag is necessary as you need to fill your sleeping bag and some cloths in the dry bag.
