Do you put ice in a soft cooler?
The soft cooler can chill food/beverage by physical method i.e. you must put ice or ice pack in it in order to chill or freeze food and beverage. To obtain longer chilly time you can pre-chill food or beverage in advance in your refrigerator. Then you can decide how much ice is put in the soft cooler.
Is the ice put on top or on the bottom when packing your soft cooler by ice or ice pack?
Well, the answer may be “it depends”. It depends on what you are trying to keep chilly and what best solution fits you. Sometimes it’s better to make ice spread out the cooler, sometimes making them on top, on bottom and in the middle.
If you want to keep your food/beverage as chilly as possible it is better to put ice or ice pack on the top of the soft cooler. Because cold air is always going down as it is heavier than warm air. The cold air will sink down through your food and beverage cooling them as it goes. And also most of the heat getting into the soft cooler will come from the lid because of opening/closing the top and the sunshine. Putting ice or ice pack on top will add an extra layer of heat protection to your items.
While other times it may be better to put the ice or ice pack in the middle or on bottom if you want to keep some items super cold while keeping other times staying warm and dry.
